Leadership Team

Ed Voll

Vertical Systems Analysis founder Ed Voll got his start in the elevator industry in the 1970s, as a mechanic’s helper and member of the elevator workers’ union. He holds a NYC Department of Buildings Agency Director’s License, and a QEI (Qualified Elevator Inspector) License. He was a member of the Inspector’s Manual Committee of ASME, and a lecturer at New York University’s Real Estate Institute and the Apartment House Institute. He has taught courses on elevator codes and management to professionals in the property trades.

After more than a decade in the elevator industry, Mr. Voll possessed a deep understanding of vertical transportation equipment installation, repair, and troubleshooting, and he had begun to believe that the elevator contracting business needed a new approach. It seemed to him that contractors were only concerned about their bottom line, and were willing to ignore building owners’ concerns as well as the safety and well-being of the riding public, if it got in the way of profit. He decided to start an elevator engineering and design firm with absolutely no ties to contractors, one that would put the public’s comfort and safety first. Since 1986, Vertical Systems Analysis has been focused on its clients’ best interests, providing consulting, design, engineering, inspection and test witnessing services to commercial, educational, healthcare and residential buildings throughout New York City and across the country.
